State Legislative Priorities
FY 2012 & FY 2013 State Biennium Transit Budgets
POSITION: NCPTA supports the Governor’s recommended budget. If there must be cuts
in the Governor’s recommended transit budget, the NCPTA urges consideration of the
following points:
- Top priority should be given to preserving operating assistance for urban and community
transit systems.
- Any funding reductions should be equitably applied to all public transit areas including
new starts, urban and rural programs.
- Cost savings can be realized by shifting the percentage of local match on federal transit
capital grants from 10% to 20%.
- Reduce the annual revenue transfers from NC Highway Trust Fund to the General Fund.
